Hi there, my name is Dr. Dorothy Rowley and I am a Chartered Senior Clinical Psychologist with over 9 years of experience working in psychology.
I have worked within the health service since 2016 across a wide variety of services including specialist mental health services, inpatient settings, community teams including CAMHS & adult mental health and disability services. Prior to my work in psychology, I worked in the U.S for several years with children, teenagers, and young adults in care; both in residential services and foster care. This role was like my jumping off point into the world of mental health and from here on I knew I wanted to pursue a career in psychology and learn how to support individuals on a deeper level with their difficulties.
I studied a degree in social science with University College Dublin, followed by a higher diploma in psychology from Dublin Business School and then I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology with Trinity College Dublin. I also have a certificate in alcohol and drug addiction counselling from Statefield University in the US and most recently I have been working towards accreditation as a certified Schema therapist.
My love for psychology has grown the more I work in the area. I have been privileged to work with so many individuals and families and hear their stories. I utilise a person-centred approach in my work which is integrative in nature; using different techniques, theories, and evidence-based approaches to tailor the support to the individual.
